Nazi gold train is FOUND - Poland's 'Nazi gold train' find - Update

Nazi gold train is FOUND in Walbrzych Poland

The potencial site where a Nazi Germany gold train is believed to be hidden, near the city of Walbrzych, Poland, Friday, Aug. 28, 2015. Poland's Deputy Culture Minister Piotr Zuchowski said Friday he has seen an image made by ground-penetrating radar that seemed to prove the discovery of an armored Nazi train missing in southwestern Poland since World War II, and is “more than 99 percent certain that this train exists.”.

Forget the Nazi gold train

Local lore says a German train filled with gold, gems and armaments went missing around the city of Walbrzych while it was fleeing the Red Army in the spring of 1945. Fortune-hunters have looked for the so-called "gold train" for decades, and in the communist era, the Polish army and security services carried out apparently fruitless searches for it.
Recently, a Pole and a German, acting through lawyers, told local authorities they had found an armored train with valuables in a disused tunnel and demanded a financial reward.

Treasure said to be aboard a Nazi Germany “gold train” hidden in a bricked-up railway tunnel in Poland is at the centre of an international row even before the find had been confirmed or a single bar recovered.

Polish officials faced Russian claims on the treasure and were warned by Jewish groups any gold taken from victims of the death camps must be returned to their heirs.

It will take months for experts to reach the train, thought to be buried in a booby-trapped tunnel in a remote border region of southwest Poland.

Warsaw has stated any cargo is the property of the state treasury, but it is likely to face legal challenges from a range of claimants. Any valuables found could be subject to lengthy and complex ownership disputes.

The ground-penetrating image appears to show a row of tanks, which supports initial reports that the train was of a “military nature.”
“As the finders of a World War II armoured train, we, Andreas Richter and Piotr Koper, declare that we have legally informed state authorities about the find and have precisely indicated the location in the presence of Walbrzych authorities and the police,” Koper said, according to the Associated Press.

“We have irrefutable proof of its existence,” he added.

According to Koper, he and Richter found the train by using their “own resources, eyewitness testimony, and our own equipment and skills,” the AP notes.

Along with their statement, the men released an image taken with ground-penetrating radar that purportedly showed the armoured Nazi train.

Nazi train could be loaded with toxic chemicals used to defend Berlin

Stanislaw Popiel of the Military Technical Academy of Warsaw told Poland's Gazeta Wroclawska newspaper that the nerve gas Tabun could be among the doomsday weapons aboard the buried freight cars.

Tabun is one of the most toxic nerve agents known to man.  Exposure to even minute quantities leads to agonising death as the body's defences collapse.

Third Reich armaments industries had an advanced chemical programme but they were never used: Hitler, who was temporarily blinded by a gas attack in WW1, was said to be against their deployment.
"Nazi Germany had a very far advanced chemical industry and chemical weapons programme," said Popiel.

"Any attempts to excavate this train will have to reckon with mass civilian evacuation incase these chemicals were aboard."
